Haven't updated the blog in a while because I keep waiting for some exciting news to report but there appears to be none in the offing. So, just to let folks know I'm still above ground, here we go.

Some school kids from St. Louis recently sent me a Flat Stanley, a cut out guy based on kids book by Jeff Brown of that name. The idea is that Stanley enjoys adventures in other places, and then returns to the kids who sent him. In this case Stanley helped me with my book signing.

Oh boy, Jim, you have now opened yourself up to a deluge of "Flat Stanley" requests in the future! We recently sent one to England to try to crash a rumored royal wedding, but were only slightly successful. Somehow Stanley got his castles confused, and went to Windsor instead of Buckingham. Poor Stanley will have a long wait until the royal family arrives for the summer season. Next year, I will suggest that the students ease Stanley's navigational woes by trying a more domestic approach. Maine's literary aristocracy should be on the lookout for stampeding Stanleys.
